The Punjab Teachers Foundation has approved three distinct electric bike models for the CM Punjab E-Bike Teacher Scheme 2026. Each model targets a different commuting need and budget level. Model A is the entry-level option designed for short daily commutes within city limits. Model B is the mid-range choice offering a balance between affordability and performance. Model C is the premium model built for teachers who travel long distances, particularly those posted in rural and remote areas of Punjab where charging infrastructure is limited.

All three models meet the safety and performance standards set by the Punjab government and have been tested by the PTF technical committee before approval. They come with standard features including LED headlights, digital speedometer, anti-theft lock system, under-seat storage, and a USB charging port for mobile devices. The primary differences lie in battery capacity, motor power, top speed, and overall build quality.

Model A: The Budget-Friendly Commuter

Model A is priced at Rs. 200,000 before subsidy. After the government covers Rs. 70,000 (35% subsidy), the teacher's share drops to Rs. 130,000, payable in 36 monthly installments of Rs. 3,600 each at 0% interest. The bike features a 48V lithium-ion battery with a range of approximately 70 kilometers per full charge. It takes around 4 to 5 hours to charge from zero to full using a standard household socket.

Model A is best suited for teachers whose daily round-trip commute is under 50 kilometers. The motor delivers 350 watts of continuous power with a top speed of 45 km/h, which is adequate for city roads and well-maintained rural pathways. The bike weighs approximately 55 kg, making it easy to handle for both male and female riders. It comes with a 1-year comprehensive warranty covering the battery, motor, and controller.

Model B: The Popular Mid-Range Option

Model B is the most popular choice among applicants. Priced at Rs. 230,000 with a government subsidy of Rs. 90,000 (39%), the teacher pays Rs. 140,000 over 36 months at Rs. 3,900 per month. It features a 60V lithium-ion battery with a range of approximately 90 kilometers per charge. Charging time is around 5 to 6 hours from a standard outlet, or 3 hours with a fast charger if available.

The extra battery capacity makes Model B ideal for teachers commuting 50 to 75 kilometers daily. The motor output is 500 watts with a top speed of 55 km/h, providing stronger acceleration on inclines and rough terrain common in semi-urban and rural Punjab. The bike also features wider tires for better grip on unpaved roads, a rear carrier rack for bags and supplies, and dual disc brakes for improved stopping power. The warranty covers the same components as Model A but extends to 18 months for the battery.

Model C: The Premium Long-Range Performer

Model C is the flagship option at Rs. 250,000 with the highest subsidy of Rs. 100,000 (40%). The teacher's share is Rs. 150,000, payable at Rs. 4,200 per month over 36 months. It boasts a 72V high-capacity lithium-ion battery with an impressive range of approximately 110 kilometers per charge. This range is critical for teachers posted in remote areas of South Punjab where the nearest school may be 40 to 50 kilometers away from their home.

The motor delivers 750 watts of power with a top speed of 65 km/h. Model C includes suspension on both front and rear wheels, making it comfortable on rough village roads. It also features a removable battery design, allowing teachers to take the battery indoors for charging rather than parking the entire bike near a power outlet. This feature is particularly useful in areas where outdoor electrical connections are not readily available. The warranty period is 2 years for the battery and 1 year for all other components.

Which Model Should You Choose?

Your choice should be driven by your daily commute distance and road conditions. If you teach in an urban area with a round-trip under 50 km, Model A saves you Rs. 600 per month compared to Model C and is more than sufficient for city riding. If your commute is between 50 and 75 km or involves mixed urban-rural roads, Model B offers the best balance of range and affordability. For teachers in remote postings with commutes exceeding 75 km or those dealing with rough terrain daily, Model C is the only option that guarantees you won't run out of charge mid-journey.

Consider also the resale value and battery longevity. Higher-capacity batteries in Models B and C tend to maintain their charge capacity longer over the years because they go through fewer complete charge cycles per week compared to Model A's smaller battery. After 3 years of use, a Model C battery typically retains 80% of its original capacity, while Model A may be down to 65-70%.
